Police nab drug peddlers in city; arms, ammo recovered

SHILLONG, June 16: Police have recovered arms and ammunition, apart from contraband items, from drug peddlers in Shillong.
According to a statement here, the ANTF East Khasi Hills, along with officers of Rynjah and Laitumkhrah Police Stations, while acting on credible inputs, on Thursday arrested two drug peddlers, viz. Eldikinstar Sohtun and T James Seiminthang from Nongshiliang under Rynjah Police Station.
From their possession, 40 soap cases of heroin weighing 423.09 grams were recovered and subsequently confiscated.
Other items that were seized were two mobile phones, one bike (ML05R5271), one PAN Card and one EPIC.
Following the duo’s arrest, further search, led by Sohtun, was conducted on Friday morning, during which arms and ammunition were recovered and seized from his residence at Mawpat.
The items that were seized include one country-made revolver, seven rounds of 0.22 live ammunition, six rounds of .38 live ammunition, one used bullet, five rounds of 12 bore live ammunition, one mobile phone, Rs two lakh, one air gun and five vehicles.
