SHILLONG, June 21: National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) spokesperson, Bajop Pyngrope on Wednesday said the “politics of hate” and the “dictatorial attitude” of the Voice of the People Party (VPP) will not sustain for long.
“Currently, we are seeing a wave in favour of the VPP since none of the other parties has started their groundwork for the district council elections and Lok Sabha polls scheduled next year. When you are playing football alone you can always score many goals,” Pyngrope told reporters after a meeting of the state executive committee of the NPYF here.
He also predicted a “bleak future” for the VPP, and added that conflict and infighting is prevalent among the party leadership.
“Confusion and conflict among the leaders will always be there since many will not subscribe to the attempts being made to divide different communities on communal lines,” he said.
Making it clear that NPYF is against communalising the reservation issue, Pyngrope said the government should rope in experts who will be able to recommend how to improve the policy so that it benefits everyone.
He suggested that youth should realize the need to look for employment opportunities beyond the government sector.
“Not more than 2,000 job vacancies are available in government sectors every year. Therefore, I would urge the youth to take advantage of the various programme initiated by the NPP-led MDA Government whether it is Prime Hub, Yes Meghalaya or Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project,” the NPYF spokesperson added.
