SHILLONG, Oct 3: The BJP has devised a plan with the objective to win all 25 parliamentary seats in the Northeast in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, party leader Ernest Mawie said on Tuesday.
According to Mawrie, former state BJP chief, a meeting was held recently in Guwahati which was attended by BJP’s North East coordinator and national spokesperson, Sambit Patra, and party’s state presidents in the Northeast.“We have decided on how to strengthen the party and strategise for Lok Sabha polls,” he said.
Stating that the party is very serious about the Lok Sabha elections in the context of the Northeast, Mawrie said, “This time we are serious. We want to win all the 25 seats in the Northeast because we have total 25 MP seats. Some state may be NEDA alliance but others are BJP”.
“So if we win the entire seats, we can bring more development in the Northeast,” he added.
Meanwhile, BJP national vice president and state in-charge, Chuba Ao, while talking about the Lok Sabha seats in the state, said that they are yet to take a call on the candidates.
Maintaining that no one has approached them for the party tickets so far, Ao said, “Observation is going on and we will work it out at the right time”.
