AR, Indian Coast Guard hold 5th joint meeting

SHILLONG, May 28: The 5th Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting between the Assam Rifles and Indian Coast Guard was convened at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles in Laitkor, Shillong, on Tuesday. The session was chaired by Lieutenant General PC Nair (PVSM, AVSM, YSM, PhD), Director General of Assam Rifles. The Indian Coast Guard delegation included DIG Pankaj Verma, TM, DIG Pramod Pokhriyal, and Commandant Ranjan Biswas.
The annual JWG meetings aim to enhance cooperation and integration between the two premier Border Guarding Forces of India. Assam Rifles and the Indian Coast Guard, formally affiliated on May 22, 2019, hold these meetings to foster inter-force collaboration and understanding.
This year’s meeting focused on deepening the operational ethos, building camaraderie, and leveraging each other’s assets for training, sports, and adventure activities.
Additionally, the discussions centered on understanding each other’s organisational structures and working methods, and adopting best practices for efficiently completing humanitarian missions undertaken by both forces.
