GSU opposes proposal to shift dialysis unit from Baghmara CH
TURA, Jan 7: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Southern Zone Baghmara, has opposed the proposed relocation of a dialysis unit at Baghmara Civil Hospital to Tura. The union recently met the Medical Superintendent at the Baghmara Civil Hospital and raised opposition to the letter issued by the Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM) for the relocation of the dialysis unit, which has been funded by the Hans Foundation. “We express our deep dissatisfaction and strong opposition to this decision. The dialysis unit at Baghmara Civil Hospital is a critical healthcare facility for the people of our region. It was established to serve the local population, who now depend on it for essential medical care. Relocating it to another district undermines the healthcare rights of the people of Baghmara and the surrounding areas,” the GSU said in a statement. “This dialysis unit is public property, meant to serve the needs of our community. Every district, including Tura, already has similar facilities. Removing this unit from Baghmara would deprive our region of vital healthcare services and create undue hardships for patients who cannot afford to travel to other districts for treatment,” the GSU added, urging concerned authorities to reconsider the decision.
