Indian Racing Festival in city showcases top motorsport talent

Shillong, April 19:The Indian Racing Festival, powered by JK Tyre, delivered an action-packed motorsport event at the Assam Rifles Cantonment in Laitkor, Shillong over the weekend, drawing large crowds and featuring some of the country’s top racers and young talent.
Despite initial weather disruptions, the festival resumed with high-energy performances including drifting demonstrations in Lexus and BMW vehicles, Superbikes stunts, and go-karting displays by young racers.Veteran rally driver Hari Singh led the line-up of professional drivers with precision stunts and burnouts, while Shillong-born Jaden Pariat impressed the home crowd with an aggressive and controlled performance in his Formula car.
Twelve-year-old Rivaan Dev Preetham, a National Karting Championship winner, also stood out during the go-karting segment.The event was organised by JK Tyre in collaboration with the Meghalaya Motorsport Society and Assam Rifles, and was attended by Lt. Gen Vikas Lakhera, Director General Assam Rifles, as Chief Guest, and East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah as Guest of Honour. Lt. Gen Lakhera also participated in a demonstration ride, experiencing drifting first-hand.
Speaking at the event, Hari Singh, Head of Operations – JK Tyre Motorsport, highlighted the Northeast’s potential in motorsports, citing the region’s road discipline and growing interest in the sport. He said such events could inspire the next generation of racers.A traditional performance by Martin Luther Christian University students added a cultural dimension to the event, which successfully combined high-speed motorsport with local engagement.
