SHILLONG, Sep 17: The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) is waiting for the monsoon to retreat in order to expedite the construction of package-I of the Shillong-Dawki Road.
The package-I will be a four-lane road from Rilbong till Upper Shillong.
“The rainy season has slowed down the work but we are still committed to complete the package-I within December this year,” an NHIDCL official said, adding that no bituminous work can be carried out during the rainy season.
However, the NHIDCL has focused on completing the structural work which is nearing 95% completion.
