Woman throws acid on husband’s ‘lover’

SHILLONG/JOWAI: A 57-year-old woman has been arrested for throwing acid on a young woman in East Jaintia Hills.
Police said the incident took place on April 12 though the matter was reported on Tuesday.
The mother of the 20-year-old acid attack victim said in her complaint that on April 12, Ai Siangshai and a man attacked her daughter with acid. Ladrymbai police arrested Siangshai on Tuesday. Siangshai and the victim, who has a child, are from the same village of Pamra Kmai in East Jaintia Hills. The former suspected that the 20-year-old woman was having an affair with her husband. The acid attack survivor, who sustained minor burn injury on her chest, was admitted in Dr Norman Tunnel Hospital in Jowai. She was released on April 15.
