TURA:The Tura Public Transport System (TPTS) which is operating ten buses given under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission will soon be granted another ten new buses because of the successful running of the service.

The transport service which was launched on Republic Day, this year, has been working smoothly and meeting up to the expectations and anticipations of the people of Tura town who seem to be enjoying the amenities of the premier town transport service.

Unlike Shillong which appeared to be facing some minor problems from certain quarters the reception for the Tura Public Transport Service has been warm from all sections of people and there has not been even one single instance of complaints and problems from any side.

“Minor operational bottlenecks are being resolved expeditiously and we are hailing it as a success story for the Urban Affairs Department of the Government of Meghalaya and Tura Municipal Board,” said deputy commissioner of Tura Pravin Bakshi.

Presently, all the ten buses are doing brisk business ferrying commuters, students, daily wagers and people from different parts of the town and its surrounding areas.
