Alarming drop in water levels in Umiam

A portion of the old Shillong-Guwahati road that had been lying under the Umiam Lake for nearly 50 years since the Umiam Dam was constructed now lies exposed due to the progressive dwindling of rainfall is the last few years. That the road is still in good condition testifies to the quality of the construction at the time, a far cry from the roads of today. Contributed by Parteii Laloo (citizen journalist)
