SHILLONG: The alleged highhandedness of a few SOT personnel has prompted the police to lodge an FIR against them on Sunday.

In a complaint lodged with the officer in charge of Cantonment outpost S. Nongkhlaw , the ASI of Mylliem police outpost K Tamang said that while he along with the officer in charge of Mylliem, and two constables, D Kharpan and D Wartynghah were performing duty at Bara Bazaar at around 7:30 pm on Sunday, the police personnel of SWAT identified as Gogoi, Manoj and two others who were drunk, created nuisance and prevented them from carrying out their duty.

“When we told the SOT personnel that we were just performing our duty, they shouted and hurled abuses at us”, Tamang in the FIR said.

The official also urged the police to take necessary action against the erring SOT personnel.
