SHILLONG: The police will take assistance of a portrait artist from outside the State to draw the sketches of the probable accused in the rape of a seven-year-old girl in Malki. Speaking to The Shillong Times on Thursday Additional SP (Crime), Vivek Syiem said that before making the sketches, “we need the child to stabilize since she is still in trauma”.

The seven-year-old school girl was raped by two unidentified persons in a forest at Malki last month while she was returning from school. The girl is undergoing rehabilitation at the moment.

According to Syiem, under the circumstances, “it is difficult for the child to give a clear version of what actually happened.”

He further added that the case is being pursued from every angle to reach the logical conclusion. The police official said that cross examination of more people is on and police are also collecting more information on the suspects.
