Laitlyngkot pound Umphrup 9-0

SHILLONG: Laitlyngkot registered a mammoth 9-0 win over Umphrup in Thursday’s First Division match at the JN Sports Complex, Polo.

As many as six players scored goals in the match as Umphrup had no answer to the Laitlyngkot juggernaut.

Batingstone Majaw led the assault with an early ninth minute goal, which was followed by a 25th minute conversion by team mate Kostarling Nongkhlaw.

Incredibly, Laitlyngkot earned seven of their nine goals in the second half after braces by Dbalton Lartang (54 and 67), Kenol Marbaniang (56 and 62), and Micksonlang Lyngdoh (65 and 68).

Riverstone Majaw finally wrapped it up with a 90th minute goal to see Laitlyngkot through convincingly.

Meanwhile, Laitumkhrah defeated Laban, securing a 3-0 win in their Second Division encounter at Polo Grounds.

Laitumkhrah’s foreign duo of Hamed Bologum and Christian Agwu scored all three goals. Bologum opened with an 18th minute shot into the net followed by Christian’s two goals in the 40th and 75th minutes.

In another Second Division match, Ryntih also scored three goals to cruise past Nongthymmai, who were unable to create an impact as they slumped to a 3-0 loss.

For Ryntih, Sanborlang Nongbri scored a brace (14 and 60) followed by a 77th minute goal from Jeremiah Syiemlieh.

On Friday, Shillong United will face Nongkrem in a First Division match at 4pm at the JN Sports Complex.

Assam Regimental Centre play Jongksha in a Third Division match at 1pm at the JN Stadium while Nongmynsong go up against CAC at 4pm at Ground III.
