SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong FC registered a 3-0 win over Tata Football Academy in a pre-season friendly, which was played at the JN Stadium, Polo, on Friday.

The match started on a bright note with both teams having a good possession of the ball, but the Reds looked more dangerous going forward, especially new recruit Cornell Glen, who troubled the TFA back line with his darting runs.

Glen was instrumental in the first goal, dribbling past two defenders before finding Jibon Singh, who put the ball into the back of the net in the 32nd minute.

Boithang Haokip doubled the score by curling in a free kick in the 38th minute.

The hosts dominated the first half, with their defenders standing up to TFA’s assaults.

The second half was less frantic, as the morning heat started to take its toll.

In the 82nd minute, Manipur sensation Milan Singh put the game to bed with a beautifully taken free kick, even as Lajong coach Thangboi Singto handed match time to youngsters Redeem Tlang, Bipin Singh, Rakesh Pradhan, Lalrammuana and Seikhohao Tuboi in what was a good match prior to the upcoming I-League season.
