TURA: In what can be termed as an audacious move, suspected GNLA militants kidnapped two businessmen in broad daylight from Deku Bazaar in Chokpot, South Garo Hills, on Thursday afternoon at 3 pm. The abducted businessmen have been identified as Mithoo Prasad (45) and Binoy Karmakar (62).

The latter is a prominent businessman from Tura and a resident of Nakham Bazaar. Karmakar supplies livestock and poultry to the main markets of Garo Hills.

On Thursday, Karmakar accompanied by Mithoo Prasad, had gone to Chokpot for business related work when both were abducted, sources informed.

Police have launched a massive search operation in and around the thick surrounding jungle to locate the abducted businessmen but their whereabouts have not be ascertained so far.
