SHILLONG: The West Khasi Hills District Administration has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting any act of coal mining in the district.
The Government issued the order prohibiting any act of coal mining within the district without the necessary environmental clearance of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board.
The District Administration promulgated the order after receiving information that some miners had surreptitiously resumed mining in parts of the district, in violation of the orders passed by the National Green Tribunal.
