SHILLONG: Two top-level posts in the State Police department – DG (Prisons) and DG (Civil Defence and Home Guards) – have become vacant following the retirement of Prem Singh on March 31 and Kulbir Krishan on January 31 respectively.
Sources said that while Additional DGP S.K. Jain is tipped to be the next DG (Civil Defence and Home Guards), the Government has not zeroed in on who will take charge of Prisons.
Additional DGP (Training and Armed Police) B.L. Buam will temporarily hold the charge of Prisons.
Additional DGP Y.C. Modi, who is senior to Buam, is currently holding charge of Law and Order and Chief Coordinator for Security in Meghalaya House, New Delhi.
