Police play pro-active role in `Clean Shillong’ initiative

SHILLONG: Taking forward the ‘Clean Shillong’ initiative, the Shillong Sadar Police station under the East Khasi Hills district has registered 15 cases in different occasions for violation of various sections of the Meghalaya Police Act,2010 within a week’s time.

Seven cases for littering and eight cases relating to drinking in public places and creating nuisance was registered.

Khasi hills police have taken the initiative in keeping the city clean together with the Shillong Municipal Board and other stakeholders which is part of the Supervisory Committee of the ‘Clean Shillong’.

police have started taking up action against the violators. Besides this, the police are also conducting various awareness campaigns to sensitize the public and help the authorities keep the city clean.

Police have also appealed the public to co-operate with the move taken up by the police and ensure that Shillong city remains clean.
