MAWKYRWAT: Around 100 youth Congress members joined the National People’s Party (NPP) in Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills during a meeting held on Thursday.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, the ex-Congress youth supporters stated that they have decided to join NPP as they believed in the leadership of former deputy chief minister Rowell Lyngdoh, who has quit Congress for NPP.
“NPP will emerge as the single largest party in Meghalaya in the Assembly elections,” Lyngdoh’s supporters said. The meeting also confirmed the appointment of office bearers of the NPP Youth Front in Mawkyrwat Block. Kitboklang K Syiemiong is the new president, and Albert Marwein and Comfort Lyngkhoi are vice-presidents.
