Lanong for Cabinet berth to Pius

SHILLONG: UDP working president Bindo M. Lanong on Monday batted for a Cabinet berth to newly-elected Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein for speedy development of the most neglected part of the state.
Asked if the party would vouch for a cabinet berth for Marwein who defeated veteran politician MM Danggo, Lanong said, “We will have to see what the position is but it will help the area if he is given a berth.”
Lanong also alleged that Danggo, who lost the Ranikor by-poll, had betrayed the faith reposed on him by the people of the constituency.
He further added that Danggo’s gravest blunder was resigning from the post of MLA just three months after being elected by the people.
Making it clear that the party will put its weight behind Marwein to ensure that Ranikor is developed in the shortest possible time, Lanong added that communication in the area has to be improved within one or two years.
