Annual Sport meet of St. Alfred SS kicks off

NONGPOH: The Inter House Annual Sport Meet of St. Alfred Secondary School Marngar was kicked off on Wednesday  at Marngar play ground here .

Nongpoh MLA, Mayral Born Syiem was the chief guest on the occasion and unfurled the school flag and light the torch of the sport meet.

Other who was presence includes, Fr. Bernard Pala, the Parish Priest, Smt. M.G Wahlang, Headmistress of St. Alfred Secondary School, along with other school faculties and parents.

Addressing the function, Mayral Born Syiem lauded the effort of the school authority for their untiring effort in uplifting the sporting spirit among school children apart from studies.

“Ri Bhoi is one of the districts in the state that had produced many sport stars who had brought laurel to the state in the field of sport, therefore, this kind of sport meet will boost the morale of school children in utilising their talent in sport and will also give them a platform to explore their hidden talent”, Syiem said.

He also exhorted school student to properly utilise their talent not only in studies, but also in other fields including sports  which play a prime role to create employment avenues for the youth of the state.
