SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s reply to a query on coal mining prompted Congress MLA Process T Sawkmie to resort to sarcasm and stay away from asking supplementary question on the last day of the budget session on Thursday.

Sangma stood up to reply to a question on illegal coal mining when Sawkmie asked him about the status of illegal coal mining in the state. To this, Sangma replied that coal mining has been banned by the National Green Tribunal since 2014.

“No question is required as the chief minister gave the best information regarding illegal mining,” Sawkmie said with a hint of sarcasm.

Similarly, UDP MLA SK Sunn said in view of the positive reply of the chief minister on Wednesday, no further question is required.

In the written reply, Sunn sought information on public health sub-centre at Mawsadang and Laitjem from Health Minister AL Hek.
