Cheiraoba celebrated in Manipur

Imphal: Cheiraoba which marks the end of the year and beginning of a New Year was celebrated in Manipur in pomp and splendour on Sunday.
Most families observed the day by offering prayers to the Gods and Goddesses and offered fruits, vegetables and food to the Almighty to seek blessings and a bountiful new year. Women presented gifts to their parents and brothers.
Special security and parking arrangements were done at various places to control the crowd. Governor Najma Heptulla has extended her heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Cheiraoba, which falls on April 14.
She said, Cheiraoba rekindles hopes for a better life. She urged all to strive towards the goal of bringing peace, prosperity and progress in every household of the State.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh said the festival, which marks rejuvenation of the spirit of life and family relationship, heralds the arrival of New Year.
The chief minister prayed for the festival to bring joy, prosperity and peaceful coexistence among all the people of the State. (UNI)
