HLC asks SMB to conduct inventorisation of Punjabi Lane anew

SHILLONG: The high-level committee (HLC) which has been constituted to find out a permanent solution to the issue of relocating residents of Punjabi Lane (Them Iew Mawlong) has asked the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB)  to conduct an inventorization in the area once again  in the form of public notice

Informing this here on Friday after a meeting of the HLC,  chairman of the Committee, Prestone Tynsong informed that the these public notices will be pasted in each every units in the area including 128  employees of the Board.

In addition, the committee also gave one month time to the settlers of the area to submit their papers and other documents before the Shillong Municipal Board within a month’s time  through the CEO of the board.

“ We are giving one last opportunity to them to give their documents,” Tynsong said

It may be mentioned that the Committee sat on Friday after almost four months.

Tynsong informed  when the inventory was conducted last time most of the settlers in the areas including  128  employees of the Board did not cooperated and their details could not be ascertained.

When asked how much more time the committee would take to submit its recommendations, he said that the question does not arise as the committee wants to have a permanent solution to the problem, adding the issue could not be solved overnight .

It may be mentioned that the job of the  HLC shall examine all relevant records and documents relating to the relocation of residents of the Sweeper Colony, Sweeper Lane, Mawlong Haat.

The committee shall also recommend practically feasible solution(s) for relocation of the said sweeper colony residents.
