SHILLONG: In order to make people understand the importance of road safety, a road safety awareness programme was organised by Office of the Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi, Nongpoh on Saturday.
The programme was followed by a motorbike rally from Umiam to Jorabat.
The program started with a welcoming speech from C.Syrti, , Superintendent of Police and the chief guest was R. M. Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi district who spoke about the road safety means and measures and steps for a safety ride on the highway.
Road safety pamphlets was distributed along the highway at Umsning, Nongpoh, Byrnihat and Jorabat as an advisory means to educate the road commuters.
The programme was participated by NHAI, DTO office, Nongpoh and the Royal Enfield Riders Association of Meghalaya.
