NONGPOH: On completion of 25 years of her continuous service to the Catholic Church under the congregation of St. Apostolic Carmel, Sister Hazel Rita Rithiang Rymmai on Saturday celebrated her Silver Jubilee celebration in fervor in a function held at Thadnongiaw Catholic Church of Mawbri Parish.

The celebration started with Holy Mass administered by Father Pius Shadap where the church believers took part with great enthusiasm. During the Holy Mass, Sister Hazel despite after her twenty-five years journey of her  dedicated service, again renews her oath that she will continue to serve the church in her remaining life.

Delivering his sermon during the Holy Mass, Father Pius Shadap lauded Sister Hazel for her contributions as a dedicated church worker and that during her service, she has been continuously working for the betterment of the society and the community.

“Twenty-five years of service in the church is not a matter of joke, there has been many hurdle and obstacles along the way”, Father Shadap said adding that it is her sincerity and dedication that have made her reach this important milestone and achievement.

It may be noted that Sister Hazel was consecrated during the year 1994 and has been serving in Kuwait for several years before moving to India to serve the church in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and finally in her own state of Meghalaya recently.

After the Holy Mass, she was felicitated by the Church with various events and gifts as a token of honouring her spiritual service, following which tree plantation was carried out in premises of the Thadnongiaw Catholic Church.

The celebration was finally concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony enthusiastically took part by her relatives and  the church leaders at her residence at Thadnongiaw village in Ri Bhoi District.
