TURA: Though victorious the NPP ought to be worried as the Congress has made deep inroads in several of its previous strongholds particularly the photo finish at Dadenggre, a high profile constituency currently represented by none other than Home Minister James Pangsang K Sangma, elder sibling of the chief minister and Agatha Sangma.
Disrupting predictions of a clean sweep from Dadenggre assembly segment of the Tura parliamentary seat, the NPP was able to scrape through by just 456 votes against the Congress, ringing alarm bells in the ruling party.
Agatha securing 12,815 votes in Dadenggre was termed by many as commendable but none expected the Congress to knock on its doors with 12,359 votes in its bag.
Dadenggre constituency has gone the NPP way for two straight consecutive elections in the state electing the elder son of Late P A Sangma with a clear majority. In successive parliamentary elections also the trend has been similar with voters overwhelmingly endorsing the party of Late Sangma.
