SP’s office advises hotels to be aware of trafficking issue
JOWAI: The office of Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills, in connection with the trafficking of minor children, held a meeting with the owners and managers of hotels, guest houses of the district in its premises on Sunday.
Additional Superintendent of Police, WJH, Bijay Chettri spoke about various issues that were required to be taken care of by the hotels and guest houses such that their premises are not used for illegal purposes.
There were 20 participants along with the officers in-charge of Jowai Police Station and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF).
The SP’s office has been conducting rounds of dialogues with different stakeholders of the district.

Training on census held in GH
RESUBELPARA: Trainers engaged in the Seventh Economic Census (EC) were provided training on fundamental concept, data collection, verification and application of IT, at the Circuit House, Resubelpara on Saturday.
Ravi Roy, Assistant Manager FI, Shillong deliberated on the significance of the EC. He said on completion of the survey, anyone having access to the internet will be able to view information on number of establishments, people employed, nature of jobs and other economic activities.
It may be mentioned that the country has undertaken six economic censuses. They were conducted in 1977, 1980, 1990, 1998, 2005 and 2013.
The activities of data collection and verification under the six censuses were held physically but in the seventh EC it will be done digitally.
The MOSPI has partnered with Common Service Centre to carry out the census.

New office bearers elected
JOWAI: The KSU Nongbareh unit elected its new office bearers in a meeting held on Saturday.
The election was conducted in the presence of its central body members that included Publicity Secretary, Raplang Nongrum, President, KSU War Jaintia Circle, Laitphar Syngkrem, General Secretary, KSU-JHDU, Garland Shadap Manner and assistant secretary of Nongbareh.
Balajied Pohlong was appointed as the President, Ksanbor Pohtam as Vice President, Subha L Rymbui as General Secretary, Kolet Tang Assistant General Secretary, Fullmoon Pohlong as Finance Secretary and 25 others as executive members.
