Agartala: Police arrested a constable identified as Pritam Bhowmik and another youth Raju Bhattacharjee, on Wednesday morning, for allegedly attempting murder after raping a middle aged women on Tuesday night here.
The victim, who was physical injuries and in psychological trauma, has been shifted to Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC). In the FIR, she complained that while travelling from Battala to Post Office Chowmuhani by an auto rickshaw, two unidentified youths boarded the vehicle in between and molested her.
Later, she was allegedly taken to a deserted place and raped by the accused persons for over an hour.
Before leaving the spot they attacked her with sharp cutting weapon that slashed her neck leaving her unconscious. They fled away assuming she was dead. (UNI)
