SHILLONG: Forest and Environment Minister Lahkmen Rymbui informed that consultation for amending the Forest Act is going on and there is no proposal but only consultation meeting.
Replying to a query posed by Congress MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh on Friday, Rymbui informed the House that it is premature to reply on the matter.
He further said that the proposed move of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to seek Forest Act exemption is purely the view of the Committee constituted by KHADC Executive Committee (EC).
The committee till date has not submitted any report. The Executive Committee is awaiting views and suggestions for decision and consideration, he added.
