KSU sends back 24 non-tribals

NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Nongthliew Circle on Saturday apprehended 24 non-tribals from Lawmei and Diengiei areas.
The union conducted a check and found that they were working without valid documents.
The union led by its president, Meaning Pathaw, carried out inspection at Lawmei where four non-tribals working as labourers had no valid documents.
Later, the KSU, Nongthliew Circle inspected Diengiei area where they discovered that 20 non-tribal vegetable traders had not obtained trading license, work permit and others documents. The detained non-tribals were sent back to their respective places.
The Union has sealed their houses in Lawmei and warned them not to stay without proper documents.
The Union has also warned the locals not to give shelter to non-tribals, who do not have valid documents, Pathaw told media persons.
