Agartala: Five persons of two different families of Tripura traveled back home from Chennai on Monday covering more than 3700 kilometres distance in five days who have been stuck there for 22 days due to lockdown.
They paid Rs 1.40 lakh to an ambulance for the travel.
The health officials stated that all of them were sent to mandatory two weeks institutional quarantine.
A retired officer of Tripura government Chanchal Majumder, a resident of Udaipur in South Tripura told media here that five of them went to Tamil Nadu on March 20 for treatment. They had planned to return within a week but meantime, 21 days lockdown was announced nationwide and they got stuck in a hotel in Chennai.
“Life became terrible due to a shortage of amenities and we became confined in the room. However, till April 14, we could manage but it was unbearable for us to remain there till May 3. Wedding of my only daughter is scheduled to be solemnized on May 8 next and our return was extremely necessary. Then on April 15 we hired an ambulance after a long persuasion and reached here last night,” Majumdar said. (UNI)
