SHILLONG: Delhi Police North East Representative, Daniel Lyngdoh, has refuted the statement of Meghalaya House in New Delhi, stating that his team had adhered to the lockdown guidelines and had also followed necessary protocols before a woman was brought to the House for accommodation.
The Meghalaya House on Sunday had said that it could not accommodate her as it was mandatory to follow the protocol.
“As a representative of North East Delhi Police after communicating with Special Branch of Meghalaya, I informed the Haryana police to bring back the girl to Delhi Meghalaya House and her medical report was sound,” Lyngdoh said in a statement.
The North East Assistant Team (NEAT) of North East Delhi police also assisted and found her at the border of Haryana-Delhi.
“I personally went to look into this matter and met Gurgaon Police (Haryana) at Meghalaya House, Vasant Vihar, too,” he said.
Stating that despite the request of Delhi Police, North East Police and Haryana Police to the gatekeeper of Meghalaya House to open the door, they were denied accommodation.
“For nearly two hours, we were waiting in front of the gate with no response and the four combined forces, including Meghalaya Special Branch, had requested the Meghalaya House official, but still were denied to offer a helping hand to the victim,” Lyngdoh said.
He said that with the plea falling on deaf ears, the Haryana Police had to leave the place along with the victim.
“After Haryana Police, the Special Police Forces of North East also left and I had to travel by foot, covering a total distance of 90 km,” he said.
“Later, the girl was provided with accommodation at a shelter home’, he added.
