COVID-19 positive cases go up to 2243 in Assam

GUWAHATI:  With detection of 90 new COVID-19 positive cases — 37 in Dhubri, 15 in Dima Hasao, seven in Karimganj, seven in Cachar, seven in Baksa, six in Hailakandi, three in Udalguri, two in South Salmara, two in Dhemaji, one each in Nalbari,Barpeta,Bongaigaon and Chirang  — on Friday night total number of cases in the state went up to 2243 including 1727 active cases, 509 recovered patients and four deaths.

Meanwhile, 50 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the state after they had tested negative for COVID-19 in two consecutive tests.

State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday made a whirlwind tour of Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Dibrigarh, Charaideo and Sivasagar districts to take stock of the COVID-19 situation in those districts and interacted with doctors, administration officials and health workers.
