5 more die of COVID-19 in Assam, toll mounts to 32

GUWAHATI: Five more persons have died due to COVID-19 in Assam today taking the death toll in the state to 32.

Assam Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that  Rakhal Deb (42), Ramesh Kayastha (68), Sukhamay Bhowmik (72) and Arachidonic Baruah Saikia (70) had died due to COVID-19 at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

‘My heartfelt condolences to their families,’ Himanta tweeted.

The Health Minister also informed that Hareswar Nath, 53-year-old, a non-symptomatic patient with no co- morbidity succumbed to COVID -19 at IIT-G COVID Care Centre today. Nath’s oxygen levels plummeted to 90 within hours and he collapsed, Himanta added.

‘My deepest condolences to his family. RIP,’ Himanta further tweeted.
