Meghalaya record first win in BCCI U-19 tourney

SHILLONG: In the BCCI Associate & Affiliate Member’s U-19 tournament Meghalaya bounced back to defeat Arunachal Pradesh by 7 wickets in their league encounter on Monday.

Meghalaya’s decision to field first after winning the toss, proved to be correct as they restricted Arunachal Pradesh to a meagre total of 81 runs all out in 21 overs. Debutant Silangki Sangma bowled brilliantly to claim 7 wickets conceding 36 runs while in form all rounder Amiangshu Sen scalped 3 wickets. In reply Meghalaya scored 83 runs in 18.4 overs with Syllvestar scoring 34 runs.

In the BCCI Associate & Affiliate Member’s Senior Women’s tournament last year’s champion Chattisgarh completely outplayed Arunachal.

Arunachal, batting first were skittle out for a paltry 31 runs in 12.6 overs. In reply Chattisgarh scored 34 runs without the loss of any wicket.

In the second match last year’s runners-up Manipur completely outplayed the inexperienced Meghalaya side. Manipur on winning the toss elected to bat first and put up a massive score of 245-9 in 50 overs with Rebika Singam scoring 49 & Laxmi Irembam 43. Pinky Chanda claimed 3 wickets giving 21 runs. In reply Meghalaya were all out for a meagre 59 runs in 26.3 overs. Manipur won by 186 runs.
