GUWAHATI: In the wake of the BJP’s overwhelming performance in the Lok Sabha election in the state, Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday heaped praises on his senior minister and party leader Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s hardwork and untiring efforts.

Talking to the media on Thursday afternoon, Sonowal stated that the unprecedented performance of the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls reflected that the people have approved Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sincere and all-encompassing development agenda that was pursued by the BJP-led NDA government during the last five years.

He said, “People have stamped Modiji’s transparent and dynamic style of governance aimed at facilitating uniform development of all the states and regions of the country and dismissed the misinformation campaign of the opposition.”

“The people have reposed confidence on Modiji for ensuring the national security, peace all over the country and rapid development. The Northeast has immensely benefited during the last five years of NDA government which has taken massive development programmes for all the states in the region,” Sonowal said.

“The people of the country love Modiji and party more than we what we have perceived. That is why the poll victory has exceeded even our own expectation,” he said

Sonowal while attributing the party’s unprecedented victory in Assam to party workers and leaders of the party, he especially had words of praise for the hard work and sincerity of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in ensuring the party’s starling performance in the region.

Sonowal stated that the people of the state and the region needed not become apprehensive about now lapsed Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and the BJP wouldn’t betray the trust imposed by the people of the region on the party.

Earlier, the president of Assam state BJP unit, Ranjeet Dass has expressed gratitude to the people of Assam for extending an unprecedented mandate to the party.

The state BJP president while attributing the success of the party to all the hardworking party workers from the booth level to the state level, stated that the party workers will now have to work with added responsibility to highlight the transparent governance of the BJP government at the State and the Centre before the people of the country.
