New Delhi: A day after 43 people died in a massive fire in the national’s capital Rani Jhansi Road area, Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari on Monday claimed that the owner of the building was associated with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Addressing a press conference at the party office here, Tiwari, who is also the Lok Sabha member from northeast Delhi said, “Rehan is the owner of the house where the tragic incident took place yesterday. The Ward councillor and the MLA of the area are from AAP.”
Hitting out at the Arvind Kejriwal-led government over the fire incident, the BJP leader said, “The illegal work in the house was going on under the AAP protection. Even the gates of the building were found to locked from outside. Who put the locks on the entrance, which led to the death of a number of people?”
Tiwari’s remarks came a day after 43 people died in the fire in an industrial unit, located in a residential area flouting all norms in north Delhi’s Anaj Mandi area.
Slamming the city government, the Delhi BJP chief said, “The residential flat which housed the industrial unit had normal electricity connection and not the commercial connection and its electricity bill ran in lakhs. Even the labour department of the city government was sleeping.” (IANS)
