Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation 2020

Khliehriat/SHILLONG: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Jaintia Hills District (EJH) FM Dopth on Monday launched the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme (IPPI) 2020 in the presence of Dr J Lakiang, District Medical & Health Officer, EJH District at the CHC, Khliehriat. The programme was organised by the Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, EJH.
The DC, while addressing the gathering on the occasion, advised parents to actively participate in the IPPI and take their children to the health centres present throughout the district to get the polio drops.
He also encouraged the health department to give their best for the programme’s success and hoped that such immunisation programmes will bring about a positive outcome and improve the health scenario of the people in the district.
The DC also administered two drops of polio vaccine to a three-year-old and marked her little finger as a declaration of the launching of the IPPI programme, which will conclude on Wednesday.
Earlier in the programme, Dr. Handaka L Suting, while giving a brief introduction about the IPPI, informed the gathering that the objective of the programme is to eradicate poliomyelitis by vaccinating children under five years of age.
The launching event was also attended by Medical and Health Officer of the 100-Bedded Hospital, Khliehriat, Dr C Tariang, and the officials and staffs of the office of the District Medical and Health Officer, EJH.
CRPF observes

Meanwhile, the 67 Bn CRPF based at Polo in the city also initiated the campaign in collaboration with Ganesh Das Government Maternity & Child Health Hospital, Shillong.
A polio booth has also been set up by the unit in front of main gate of Battalion Headquarter.
In a statement, the CRPF said that altogether 63 children were vaccinated by Battalion hospital staff on Monday.
The CRPF has also requested the locals to approach the booth with their child, up to the age of 5 years, between 8 am to 3 pm.
