At Cherrapunjee, the the Meghalaya Industries Minister, Dr F. A. Khonglam took the salute after unfurling the tri-colour. Dr Khonglam, whlie addressing the gathering, said that the Government would be setting up a DRDA for each of the five districts of the state. This was to accelerate the Rural Development Programme. A new programme which would help the marginal farmers had also been launched, he added.
At Mawkyrwat, Mr Rowell Lyngdoh, Minister for Public Works, Meghalaya took the salute at the march past.
