Governor Bhishma Narain Singh, will take the salute at the march past at the Independence Day at Garrison Ground in Shillong on August 15.
The programme in Shillong includes the ceremonial parade at the Garrison Ground at 9 a.m. free cinema show for children under 14 years of age in all local cinema halls, distribution of gift packets to patients of Civil Hospital, Raid Chest Hospital by the Meghalaya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to inmates of District Jail Shillong and the Home Mentally Ill People, Mawlai and distribution of gift packets by the Rotary Club. From 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. sports for children at the Garrison will be organized. An exhibition football match at the Polo Ground is also being organized at 4 P.M.
