NONGSTOIN: The Hima Nongstoin has rubbished allegations of misappropriation of funds with regard to “toll gates” by the All North East Coal Truck Owners’ and Operators’ Association (ANECTOOA).

In a press conference at Nongstoin on Monday, the Hima Secretary, A Syiem said as per the RTI filed by ANECTOOA president A Shanpru, all information related to the issue had been provided by the Nongstoin Syiemship last year itself, but the delay by the truckers’ leader in revealing the information now only leads to suspicion about his “malicious intention”.

The ANECTOOA revealed RTI documents to supplement its allegation that the official revenue of Hima does not correspond to the huge amount of money collected through its different check gates under its jurisdiction.

“Shapru is known as the stunt enemy of the Hima Khasi and the customary practices of the communities,” Syiem alleged. There is total transparency in the accounts of the Dorbar which is duly passed by the Dorbar Hima and its session and therefore the allegations are baseless, he said.

Youth Cong body demands road repair

The Nongstoin Block Youth Congress Committee has demanded immediate repair of the seven-km-long road from Nongstoin to Civil Hospital Nongstoin. The dilapidated stretch of the road is a nightmare for the commuters especially the patients going for treatment.

A NBYCC delegation on Monday met the Executive Engineer PWD Road to press for its demand, but the department does not feel it is responsible for the condition of the road,” NBYCC president E Nongrem said. NBYCC has threatened to launch agitation if the Government failed to take any immediate steps to repair the road.
