SHILLONG: The Congress dissidents have expressed their “shock and disappointment” over the AICC general secretary incharge of the State, Dr Dhaniram Shandil’s state ment on Monday that Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma would complete his full term.

In an unsigned press release apparently issued by the dissident group following their meeting here on Tuesday night, they called for convening the CLP meeting at the earliest to settle the leadership imbroglio.

Claiming that Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi had been apprised of the matter, the 18 dissident leaders urged upon the AICC leadership to convene the CLP which has not been called for over a year now.

Dr Shandil on Monday said a decision on the CLP would be taken by the leader of the CLP and the State PCC.

Meanwhile, under-fire Dr Sangma met Dr Shandil and former AICC incharge Meghalaya Oscar Fernandes in New Delhi on Tuesday before his departure for Shillong.

It is understood that the Chief Minister discussed the current political stalemate with the AICC officials.
