Three GNLA linkmen held

NONGSTOIN: Three linkmen of the GNLA were arrested while they were serving demand notes at a check gate at Athiabari in West Khasi Hills on Wednesday. The arrested trio – Phairos Marak (26) and Amost Sangma (26) both from Salbari, West Khasi Hills and Vituos Marak (24) from Hahim in Kamrup district of Assam – confessed to the police that the GNLA had been using them to serve extortion notes and to supply food for the outfit’s cadres. SP West Khasi Hills, N Raja Marthandan said the linkmen served demand notes of Rs 5 lakh to the check gate at Athiabari.
