SHILLONG: The State BJP unit has demanded imposition of President’s Rule in the State in the wake of serious rift in the Congress while maintaining that the party knows that Governor RS Mooshahary would never make such a recommendation to the Centre.

“We know that the Governor would never make this recommendation to the Centre since he (Mooshahary) is the puppet of the Congress,” BJP State general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty told reporters on Monday.

While maintaining that the party would not like to interfere with the affairs in the Congress, Chakraborty said the BJP cannot keep silent when the governance of the State has been in total shambles due to the political rumblings in the Congress.

“We are not concerned who is coming as the Chief Minister. But the fact is that the Congress-led MUA Government has failed on all fronts,” he said.

“You have seen how it happened in Karnataka. In Karnataka, the Governor recommended for PR even when the situation does not warrant, but here the Governor saw it as unnecessary. This is how Congress is misusing Governor and government machineries,” he said.

Referring to the then NDA government, whichhad “never involved in such activities as being exhibited” by the Congress”, the BJP leader said, “It has been proven that NDA never do such things. If you may recall MM Jacob continued as Governor of Meghalaya even when NDA was in power at the Centre that time.”

He also alleged that the Congress had misused the present Governor even during the time of the MPA regime.

Black money: The State BJP has alleged that there some people even in the State who have stashed their money in foreign banks.

“Let the names of people with black money in foreign banks come out. We have no doubt that people from the State are very much in the list. The Government knows about it but doesn’t want to take action,” Chakraborty said.

The party members wore black badges on Monday in protest against the police action on Baba Ramdev-led protesters at Ramlila ground in New Delhi on Saturday midnight.
