Shillong: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) has condemned rape of a girl by one Batskhem Lyngdoh Nongpyiur of Mawlai Mawroh on June 3 and at the same time appreciated the action taken by the Mawlai police who apprehended the accused.
It is learnt that the family of the culprit had filed a counter FIR on Monday against the brother of the girl and his friends for assaulting the accused. “This is unacceptable, such FIR’s should not be entertained as this will encourage rapists to file FIRs against the family of the victim”, said Agnes Kharshiing, CSWO president.
