State to launch GSA soon

SHILLONG: The State Government is on the verge of preparing a database and starting the process of mapping to ensure implementation of the Geo Spatial Application (GSA) in the State. Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma revealed this during his interaction with a team from the Ministry of Science and Technology here on Thursday.

The team led by Sanjiv Nair, Director, Mission for Geo Spatial Applications (MGSA) and National Mission on Bamboo Application also gave a presentation on Geo Spatial Applications.

Geo Spatial Applications is a multi-faceted application that maps places and enables a user on a computer to monitor internal security, development infrastructure, mapping of schools and also flood management and others using satellite data.

The team also made a presentation on Bamboo application aimed at promoting bamboo production using advanced technology. An exhaustive workshop will be organized by the Ministry shortly in their bid to familiarise the local people with the programme.
