NONGSTOIN: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) on Friday expressed their appreciation towards the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills S Kharlyngdoh for his visit to Langpih on June 15 in which he has promised the local Khasi people there that they would implement various developmental facilities at Langpih.
The DC assured the people of Langpih that the construction of the sub-centre will start soon.Speaking to media here on Thursday Pynwanbor K Bani, president of the Federation stated that most of the local people staying in Langpih were happy as the Deputy Commissioner has taken the initiative and the interest to try and develop the backward areas.
The Assam Government announced many facilities to develop Langpih area which prompted the Meghalaya Government to also take steps.
Buying of coal: The West Khasi Hills Truck Owners & Driver Association have decided to support the decision of the Hima Nongstoin Coal Trader & Producer Association and the Dewlieh Road Committee Maweit in which coal traders or people are not allowed to buy the coal seized by the District Administration (DA),West Khasi Hills in the meeting held on Friday.
B.Marngar, president of the WKHTODA stated that the coal seized by the DA has been stored in a police reserve complex at Mawiaban and will be auctioned.
Saplings stolen: On June 18, miscreants stole more than 220 saplings of rubber trees from the Soil & Conservation Department, Kamriangsih, Nongstoin.
An FIR has been lodged at the Nongstoin Police Station.
