RPF intelligence reports threat from NDFB ultras

Threat to NJP rly station

Kolkata: Security has been stepped up at New Jalpaiguri station after intelligence wing of Railway Protection Force (RPF) issued an alert about a threat by the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) to blow away the station.

“We have taken all precautionary measures at New Jalpaiguri station after RPF intelligence wing issued the alert about the NDFB threat,” Director-General (Rail) Dilip Mitra said here on Saturday, adding, Superintendent of railway police was camping at New Jalpaiguri station with force.

A Jalpaiguri report said RPF personnel had started conducting searches at New Jalpaiguri station as also on board trains. Passengers were also being frisked. Reports said that bomb disposal squad was also stationed there.

RPF had recently recovered a bomb from a stationary passenger train in Guwahati station, which was suspected to be planted by the NDFB militants. (PTI)
