Lahore: A powerful blast near a police post in Multan city of Pakistan’s Punjab province on Sunday killed at least three policemen and injured several others, officials said.

The police post on the busy Multan-Lahore road is located near residential and commercial areas.

The blast was heard from several kilometres away, witnesses said.

Officials told the media that three policemen were killed instantly and several others injured.

Reports said the death toll could rise.

The nature of the blast could not immediately be ascertained.

One report said officials believed the bomb was hidden in a motorcycle parked in the area. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. (PTI)
